AOC recently launched its two first PC monitors with FreeSync technology. The company is now adding a cheaper 24-inch model for €149 / Ł129.

”Adaptive frame rate” technologies such as FreeSync are important and can potentially improve any monitor or TV out there. By ensuring that the graphics card (or any source) and the display are in perfect refresh rate synchronization at any time you can avoid judder and lag. The technology is enabled by DisplayPort, but AMD has chosen to call it FreeSync, whereas Nvidia calls it G-Sync.
The new AOC monitor, G2460VQ6, proves that monitors with FreeSync do not have to be expensive. The monitor has a TN panel, a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz and a response time of 1 ms. These specifications make it very suitable for games. It offers a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.
AOC further says that it uses flicker-free backlight and “Anti-Blue Light” technology. AOC explains:
- “Shortwave blue light can damage your eyes. AOC Anti-Blue Light Technology blocks harmful blue light rays, without changing display colour. Other attempts to reduce blue light use filters or settings that cause dim/yellowish images. AOC Anti-Blue Light preserves the monitor's colour accuracy while taking care of your eyes.”
AOC’s two firste FreeSync monitors launched at Ł229 and Ł279. The new 24-inch G2460VQ6 will be available in September or October, depending on your region, for €149 / Ł129. More specifications can be found here.
