HBO’s Game of Thrones was the big winner at this year’s Emmy show. It won 12 statuettes, including for best drama series. HBO’s Veep won for best comedy series.
HBO broke records
Netflix and Amazon's series were nominated in a handful of categories but HBO was the big winner at this year’s Emmy show. HBO won a total of 43 Emmys, including 12 for Game of Thrones.
This is the first time that a single TV series has taken home this many Emmys in a single year. Game of Thrones won for best drama series. House of Cards, Homeland, Downton Abbey, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, and Orange is the New Black were nominated, too.

In best comedy series, HBO’s Veep took the honors. Louie, Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, Silicon Valley, Transparent, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt were also nominated.
Netflix received only a few Emmys for its original TV series. One went to Uzo Aduba for “Outstanding supporting actress in a drama series” for her part in Orange is the New Black. House of Cards received two Emmys. Amazon’s Transparent received five Emmys. Jon Stewart's last season of The Daily Show won for best "Variety talk series".
