Starting this month, you will be able to use Google’s movie rental shop on your LG Smart TV in 104 countries. The app will work on 2014 and 2015 webOS TVs as well as earlier NetCast 4.0 and 4.5 based LG TVs.
Google Play Movies on LG TVs
When Google launched its online shop for movies and TV shows a few years ago the company decided to simply name it “Google Play Movies & TV”. Today, it is a strong competitor to Apple’s iTunes store.
In recent months and years, Google has expanded the online movie store to non-Google devices such as the Roku boxes and iPhones/iPads. Google Play Movies & TV is now coming to LG’s Smart TVs running webOS (2014 and 2015 generations) and NetCast (2012 and 2013 generations).

- "The smart TV market is growing rapidly and with that comes a tremendous demand for fresher, higher-quality content," said In-kyu Lee, head TV and monitors at LG.
"Meeting this demand is LG's highest priority, matched only by our desire to provide the best possible viewing experience on our TV products with the webOS platform. Our close partnership with Google will go a long way toward fulfilling the high expectations of LG Smart TV owners."
You can buy or rent movies and TV shows from major Hollywood studios in HD quality as well as titles from independent studios. Google says that there are “thousands of titles”.
The app will become available starting this month in 104 countries. The first launch wave is the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada.
