Samsung’s first UHD Blu-ray player will start shipping in March for $500 dollars, making it far cheaper than the first-generation DVD and HD Blu-ray players. You can pre-order it now and get it for just $400.

Samsung’s first UHD Blu-ray player is, model UBD-K8500, was announced at IFA 2015 a few months ago and we gave you our hands-on impressions here.
At CES 2016, Samsung announced that it will start shipping the product in March for $500. That is significantly less than the first-generation DVD and HD Blu-ray players, which is obviously a good sign for the new disc format that will have to compete with streaming options.
The UHD Blu-ray standard supports 4K resolution, HDR (high dynamic range), BT.2020 color gamut, and 10-bit colors. And so does Samsung’s UHD BD player. It also has support for HD audio formats, two HDMI ports and built-in WiFi.
It features a sleet, curved design and can connect wirelessly to Samsung’s Multiroom speakers. It also plays regular HD Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs.
Samsung said that more than 100 UHD Blu-ray titles will be available from Hollywood studios before the end of 2016. The first titles will be available in March once the player hits the market. More on that here.
