Sony XD85 now shipping
Last year’s X85C was a particularly popular TV in many regions. Sony has now released the successor. You can identify the 2016 models by the “D” in the model name, for example XD85.
Sony has made the TV available in 55 to 75-inch sizes. An 85-inch version will follow a few weeks from now. It comes packed with 4K resolution, the "4K Processor X1" picture processor, and Triluminos that expands the color space beyond Rec.709. Sony says that the TV also supports HDR but be aware that, unlike the 9 series models, it does not have the hardware to reproduce HDR.

Sony continues to support Google’s efforts to establish Android TV as a cross-manufacturer operating system for TVs. Android TV offers access to apps, games, and more. It also has integrated Google Cast, which means you can use the TV just like you would use a Chromecast dongle. In Europe, XD85 also has a twin-tuner.
In the US the model is called X85D. In Europe, it is called XD85 and it will be available as three design variants; XD8505, XD8577 (silver) and XD8599 (black). They are 99% technical identical. Sony will also release a curved design variant named SD85, only in Europe. Follow the link for a full overview.
