Samsung exhibited its first Dolby Atmos-enabled K950 soundbar at CES 2016. It will be available this summer for $1499. The company says that it will also release a more affordable K850 for $899.
More Dolby Atmos soundbars
Yamaha was first to announce a Dolby Atmos soundbar and Samsung was quick to follow up. Samsung refers to its most expensive solution, K950, as a “soundbar” but technically it an audio system since the soundbar is accompanied by two wireless rear speakers and a subwoofer.
The new, more affordable K850 is, on the other hand, a soundbar. There are no rear speakers. Samsung says that it packs a 3.1.2-channel system (left, center, right in soundbar + 1 subwoofer + 2 roof-firing units). It connects wirelessly to the subwoofer.

Dolby Atmos is an object-based audio system that can position sound as “objects” in your living room. You may already have experienced Dolby Atmos in the cinema.
HW-K950 and HW-K850 will be available this summer in the US for $1499 and $899, respectively. HW-K950 has also been confirmed for Europe.
