Universal's first UHD Blu-ray movies are coming this summer

Universal will back the UHD Blu-ray format alongside its digital online releases. The first movies are coming this summer, starting with Lucy, Warcraft, Jason Bourne, and more.

Universal commits to UHD Blu-ray
With Universal on board, all major Hollywood studios except Disney are backing the new UHD Blu-ray disc format. Universal will release its first UHD Blu-ray titles this summer.

- “UPHE plans to make its titles available in both 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD digital formats. All of the designated offerings will feature a combination of 4K resolution and the color brilliance of High Dynamic Range, with many additionally including multi-dimensional sound for the ultimate immersive audio experience,” said Universal.

In addition to UHD Blu-ray discs, Universal will also release movies via online streaming and download services. The studio is also planning to release movies in the Dolby Vision and IMAX formats.

Warcraft
Jason Bourne
Everest
Lucy
Lone Survivor
