NASA is giving everyone with an Apple TV 4 the opportunity to live stream rocket launches and enjoy the views from the International Space Station. There is also a back catalog of documentaries and reports on space.
Experience space from the living room
With the app for Apple TV you can watch a live stream from the ISS and documentaries about historical and recent events in the history of space exploration. There is also a huge catalog of more than 15,000 photos from space (taken by NASA) that you can watch as a slideshow as well as a radio station.

The app is a goldmine of information if you are interesting in space. You can even live-stream upcoming rocket launches, including those that NASA and SpaceX launch in collaboration. The videos are broadcast in HD quality but some parts of the back catalog are obviously only available in lower quality.
- “The NASA app has been a fantastic way for the public to experience the excitement of space exploration from their mobile devices,” said David Weaver, NASA associate administrator for Communications. “Now, users with the latest Apple TV can explore and enjoy our remarkable images, videos, mission information, NASA Television and more on the big screen with the whole family.”
NASA recently launched a 4K channel that you can receive via streaming and satellite TV. The channel is not available in the app for Apple TV because the box does not yet support 4K.

The new app from NASA is free and is available from the tvOS App Store. The app was already available for iPhone/iPad, Android, Chromecast and Fire TV where is has been downloaded more than 17 million times across all platforms.
