Panasonic launches DX800 with easel design

23 Jun 2016 | Rasmus Larsen |

Panasonic DX800 was unveiled in late February and is now available in stores, says Panasonic. The TV combines advanced picture technology with a distinctive easel design.

Panasonic explains that the design of DX800 has been inspired by European furniture design. The distinctive easel design is complemented by a bezel in polished aluminum. The edges of the bezel have been diamond cut.

The TV obviously offers UHD resolution and also features the company’s new HCX (Hollywood Cinema Experience) picture processor, a scaled-down version of the HCX+ first introduced in the flagship DX900 model. However, unlike DX900 the more affordable DX800 does not feature backlit LED with zone controls for optimal HDR picture quality. The TV can still process HDR content, says Panasonic.

The new TVs have a built-in twin tuner for recording as well as access to streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Video. All of Panasonic’s 2016 models will be software updated to Firefox OS 2.0 later this year. For more details see our Panasonic's 2016 TV line-up overview.

DX800 is available now in 50" (TX-50DX800) and 58" (TX-58DX800) sizes in Europe. No launch details have been announced for the US.
