Philips has over the last few weeks been rolling out its 2016 models and most of them are now available to buy across Europe. Key features this year are Ultra HD, Android TV, and Ambilight.
Philips launches 2016 TVs
Philips has launched new TVs ranging from very affordable to premium. As you move down in price you will lose Ambilight. Android TV on the other hand is integrated in most of the new TVs.
The 8 series is currently the most premium from Philips. One of them, 8901, has a new improved version of Ambilight that Philips has dubbed AmbiLux. The more affordable 8601 has Amiblight and relatively powerful speakers. Both come with Android TV, twin tuner, UHD, HDR processing, and more.

Last year, Philips announced a 9 series flagship but later decided to abandon it, and the company has yet to unveil a 9 series flagship for 2016. However, Philips has confirmed that it intends to launch the first OLED TV later this year. The OLED TV is expected to become the new 9 series for 2016.
In a few weeks from now, Philips will also launch the 7601 series that incorporates many of the same picture systems that were intended for last year’s 9 series flagship. 7601 has full array local dimming and is capable of reproducing HDR (high dynamic range).
Lots of Android TVs
In the new 7 and 6 series Philips will offer Ambilight and Android TV. These are mid-range models that come with Ultra HD resolution. From 6101 and down there is no Ambilight. The 5 and 4 series offer only HD resolution.

Philips will completely abandon 3D and curved TVs. Follow the link for a full overview of Philips’ 2016 TV line-up.
Most of Philips’ 2016 models are shipping now in Europe. 7601 will be available soon. The US line-up is completely different because the Philips TV brand is licensed by Funai in the US.
