Hisense has released its 55” and 65” M7000 series in Europe. The company has dubbed the new line of TVs “ULED”, a made-up term for souped-up LCDs that support HDR and wide color gamut.
Correction: A previous version of this article described the TVs as having full array local dimming but that does not appear to be the case.
M7000 with HDR and wide color gamut
M7000 is the second generation of Hisense’s “ULED” TVs. Like Samsung’s “SUHD”, ULED does not actually mean anything but is the company’s own way to describe LCD TVs that are capable of reproducing HDR (high dynamic range) and wide color gamut.
Hisense has equipped the TVs with some form of "local dimming", but it is not clear exactly what that entails from the company's specifications sheet. The best thing about M7000 is probably the fact that it is significantly more affordable than most other TVs with the same capabilities as it starts at just 1100 Euro for a 55” model.
In addition to the advanced imaging technology the TVs come with built-in WiFi and apps such as Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube. The TVs support 4K streaming through HEVC and VP9 decoding, too. Hisense’s in-house TV platform is powered by a quad-core processor.
Hisense says that 55” H55M7000 and 65” H65M7000 TVs are now available across Europe for 1100 and 1700 Euro, respectively. The TVs are also available in the UK for Ł800 and Ł1200, respectively.
