At IFA, Toshiba and Vestel announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership. You can expect to see Toshiba-branded TVs make a comeback in Europe, produced by Vestel.
Toshiba TVs, made by Vestel
Turkish Vestel is the largest European TV manufacturer and even though you may never have heard of them you have surely heard of some of the brands that Vestel is producing for. One of the brands is Hitachi, and now Toshiba joins the fold.
Vestel says that it “will be responsible for the production, sales, marketing, and supply chain functions in the European market for Toshiba branded TVs while working closely with Toshiba research, development and quality assurance resources” and adds that Toshiba is still a very strong brand in Europe.
- "With this strengthened partnership, we look forward to maximizing Toshiba's potential for further growth and market reach. Already a renowned and trusted household name with a reputation for high quality, Toshiba will be positioned as our premier TV brand for Europe. We'll be working hard to consolidate this market position, drawing on our manufacturing strength to collaborate with Toshiba on future product designs and developments." said Turan Erdogan, CEO for Vestel Group.

Vestel added that “the two companies have outlined ambitious growth plans for the European consumer TV market with aims to exceed Toshiba's previous market position. To achieve this goal, Vestel will set up an experienced sales and product management team to support the business and establish a local presence in key markets with the aim of establishing a broad distribution in the European consumer market. “
At IFA 2016, Vestel also announced its first OLED TV. While it has yet to comment on actual Toshiba TVs for the European market, it is certainly plausible that it could launch a Toshiba-branded OLED TV.
