FandangoNOW (née M-Go) has launched on Google’s Android TV platform, bringing a catalog of 40,000 movies and TV shows, including 4K/HDR content, to a range of devices. It is a pay-per-view service.
FandangoNOW on Android TV
FandangoNOW was formerly called M-Go but was rebranded earlier this year. It is a pay-per-view streaming service akin to Apple iTunes and Google Play Movies. Owned by NBCUniversal, the company also recently acquired movie site Rotten Tomatoes.
FandangoNOW has launched an app on Android TV, bringing the service to TVs from Sony, Sharp, LeEco, and others. It is also available on media boxes such as Nexus Player and Nvidia Shield. The company already offered apps on platforms such as Roku, Smart TV (Samsung, LG, Vizio), Android and iOS. It also works with Chromecast and Airplay but there is no app for Apple TV.
The service supports UltraViolet, meaning that you can redeem your digital copy of movies bought on disc via the service. Additionally, it support Vidity, which is a system supported by some Smart TV that allows you to download movies onto an encrypted USB hard drive.
Some movies are available in 4K/HDR quality. One example is ‘The Revenant’, which is available to buy for $29.99 in 4K/HDR and for $15 in HD.
