The new, more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro will launch on November 10 and support games in up to 4K resolution and HDR. Sony today reveals that Call of Duty, Uncharted 4, The Last of Us and Rise of the Tomb Raider will be amongst the first to be updated to take advantage of the new video technologies.
PS4 Pro with "up to 4K" and HDR
To enjoy the extra graphics muscles that PS4 Pro has to offer, previously released games will need to be updated. Sony says that over 30 games will be ready on launch day and 45 before the end of the year.
PS4 Pro can deliver games in up to 4K Ultra HD resolution and in HDR (High Dynamic Range). Sony says "up to 4K" because many games will be rendered at a lower resolution between HD and 4K and then upscaled to 4K. HDR involves expanding the dynamic range and extending the color gamut. Especially HDR has the potential to significantly improve the visual experience.
- "Since unveiling PS4 Pro, we know players have been very eager to see exactly how it will impact their favourite games. We are pleased to say that the console will give them the experience they have been waiting for; images are incredibly sharp and the tiniest details are magnified – making gameplay more immersive than ever before," said Jim Ryan, President, Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe.

'Uncharted 4’ and ‘The Last of Us’
Some of the first titles to be updated are the amazing Naughty Dog games, including Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us. A full list is available below.
The software updates required are of course free. The update for The Last of Us was released yesterday and bring HDR to current PS4 consoles, too.
- "Being able to significantly boost the visual impact of our games by using PS4 Pro’s 4K and HDR technologies makes our software offering stronger than ever. These enhancements make us prouder than ever to say that PlayStation 4 is the best place to play" added Jim Ryan.
PlayStation 4 Pro will be available on November 10 for $400 / Ł350.
