Starting this week, customers in the US can stream the entire Netflix catalog on “millions of X1” set-top boxes from Comcast. The X1 remote control works with voice search.
Netflix on your TV set-top box
A few years ago, Netflix started partnering with traditional TV channel providers to appear on their set-top boxes. The Netflix app is now coming to Comcast set-top boxes.
- “The Netflix integration into the X1 platform means our mutual customers will no longer need to change inputs or juggle remotes,” said Reed Hastings, Netflix Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Now they can seamlessly move between the Netflix app and their cable service, enjoying all the TV shows and movies they love without hassle.”

It is a dedicated app with the standard Netflix user interface. However, as seen above Netflix’s content will also be fully integrated into the X1 content screen.
You can use the X1 voice remote to launch the Netflix app and search for specific content or actors. The two companies are highlighting Netflix series such as House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black, and Stranger Things.

Comcast expects to have the X1 platform in 50 percent of Comcast homes by the end of 2016.
Existing customers can log in right away. New customers can sign up on the X1 set-top box and have Netflix added to the monthly box or online through Netflix’s website. More information is available on xfinity.com/Netflix.
