BenQ has unveiled a new monitor designed for gaming. XL2540 is part of the Zowie series and is one of the first monitors on the market to support a true 240Hz refresh rate. It has 1920x1080 resolution.

A few years back, Eizo launched a monitor with 240Hz that used a combination of native 120Hz refresh rate and black frame insertion to drive the LCD panel at 240Hz.
The new monitor from BenQ on the other hand can accept true 240Hz signals - 240 frames per second - from a PC. That should offer an excellent gaming experience, says BenQ – at least if you have a capable PC.
Besides BenQ, Asus has announced the PG258Q with true 240Hz. BenQ XL2540 is a 24.5-inch monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. It is based on a TN LCD panel with a 1 ms response time. It does not appear to support either of the G-Sync or FreeSync adaptive refresh rate systems.
XL2540 can be connected to the PC via DisplayPort, HDMI or DVI, and also features three USB ports for external devices and a headphone jack. The stand offers height, swivel, tilt and pivot adjustment. XL2540 also comes included with shielding panels to block out ambient light. Lastly, BenQ highlights the “S switch” with physical buttons that you can assign to certain picture modes.
BenQ XL2540 will be exhibited for the first time at DreamHack Winter in Sweden on November 24-26. Pre-orders will start in late November but BenQ has not confirmed the release date. In the US, the price will be $500 dollars.
