Google’s streaming service for movies has expanded to 10 new regions, mainly countries in the Middle East but also Vietnam.

Google expands its reach

Google is very busy building out its video platforms. The company is currently in the process of rolling out HDR on YouTube, has just launched a new Chromecast, and is adding 4K content to Google Play. It has now announced that Google Play Movies is expanding to 10 more countries.

Most of the countries are in the Middle East. Here is the full list:
  • Bahrain
  • Egypt
  • Jordan
  • Kuwait
  • Lebanon
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Vietnam

    Google Play Movies in UAE

In the United Arab Emirates for example, rentals start from 9.99 AED ($2.72 USD) and 14.99 AED ($4.08 USD) for major titles. Movies sell for 40 to 50 AED ($10.89 - $13.61 USD). The catalog includes titles such as X-Men, Suicide Squad, Independence Day Resurgence, The Martian, and many others. However, there are no Bollywood movies.

Google expanded its Play Movie service to 40 additional countries, most in Europe, in March 2014.

The Google Play Movies app is available on Android TV devices, Chromecast, LG webOS TVs, iPhone/iPad, Android mobile, PC/Mac, and certain other devices.
