AT&T launches DirecTV Now, a streaming channel service

AT&T’s new ‘Direct Now’ streaming service starts at $35 dollars per month. It will be available starting tomorrow on Apple TV, Chromecast, FireTV, and mobile devices. Roku support will arrive in Q1 2017.

If you still prefer the traditional TV channel experience but want some of the flexibility that streaming technology has to offer, DirecTV Now is an alternative to PlayStation Vue and Sling TV.

DirecTV Now starts at $35/mo for 60 channels and ends at $70/mo for the full 120+ channels package. In terms of programming the usual channels are available, excluding CBS, Showtime, and NFL Sunday Ticket. Two simultaneous streaming can be watched at any time.

HBO’s catalog can be added for just $5/mo, which is significantly cheaper than the stand-alone HBO Now service.

Apple TV and other devices
The channel streaming service is available to watch on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Android, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, and PC/Mac. Roku, Chromecast for iOS, and Samsung Smart TV will be available early next year.

Customers who sign up for three months will receive a free Apple TV box. Next year, a cloud DVR feature will be added.

DirecTV Now launches in the US tomorrow on Wednesday November 30. A free 7-day trial period is available.
