Dell is planning to launch the first PC monitor with 8K resolution. That is four times as many pixels as 4K and over 33 million pixels. FlatpanelsHD spent some time with the wonder.
Over 33 million pixels
We have seen lots of 8K TVs at CES 2017 but most of them are just there to impress. They are not actually shipping products.
Dell on the other hand wants to make 8K reality. The 32-inch UP3218K was created to cater to people working professionally with photography, graphics, and design.
FlatpanelsHD spend some time with the monitor at CES 2017 and it is virtually impossible to tell the small pixels apart even if you are a few centimeters away from the panel. The picture is incredibly detailed and crisp but lacks a little contrast compared to some of the new TVs exhibited at CES.
Dell tells us that UP3218K has a 10-bit panel, meaning that it can reproduce over 1 billion colors. It covers 100% of both the sRGB and AdobeRGB color space.
The monitor also looks nice. It has thin bezels all around, a streamlined rear, and a flexible stand that offers lots of adjustment options.
Dell UP3218K will be available in March for $5000 dollars.
