Microsoft has said that it will rebuild the Xbox One dashboard so that it will be faster to navigate. The company has now given us the first glimpse of some of the new dashboard features in a video, shared by Windows Central.
New Xbox One dashboard
If you own the Xbox One or Xbox One S you know that the dashboard is pretty slow to navigate. Microsoft has admitted as much so it is rebuilding the dashboard to make it faster to open games, apps, and just navigate in general.
We now know, more or less, what this redesign looks like. Microsoft has demonstrated it in a short video that shows a new left-floating overlay menu that gives you a quick overview of the most recently used games and apps. That way you quickly switch between apps. The new menu also gives you quick access to your “pins”. The video came from Mike Ybarra, head of platform engineering for Xbox, and was shared by Windows Central.
Microsoft is no longer including Kinect with the purchase of the console and has abandoned its plans to turn Xbox One into a set-top box but the company is still positioning the console as a streaming device – besides a game console. It offers apps from major players such as Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, and others
Another service that will be tightly integrated in the new redesigned dashboard is Microsoft’s Beam, which is live-streaming service for games and a competitor to Twitch and YouTube Gaming.
