Sony to discontinue 'PS Now' & 'PS Video' apps on most devices

Sony is scaling back its video and game streaming ambitions to focus on only a few select devices. This will surely come as a disappointment to users who are using a Smart TV to stream games from the PlayStation Now service.
On August 15, 2017, Sony will remove the PlayStation Now app from the following devices:
In the future, PlayStation Now will be available only on PS4 and Windows PC
- “After thoughtful consideration, we decided to shift our focus and resources to PS4 and Windows PC to further develop and improve the user experience on these two devices. This move puts us in the best position to grow the service even further. If you use any of the above devices, we want to give our heartfelt thanks for your support, and we hope you’ll continue with us. Remember that all of your PS Now cloud game saves can easily be accessed on both PS4 and Windows PC,” Sony wrote.
Sony is also scaling back its movie streaming ambitions. Movie streaming service ‘PlayStation Video’ (née Video Unlimited) will be discontinued on “selected Sony Bravia TVs and video & audio products released in 2013 and earlier”. You can see the affected models here.
The decision is disappointing and a little perplexing especially for PlayStation Now that was launched as a cross-device game streaming service.
