Facebook has today launched its brand new video app on Samsung Smart TVs from 2015, 2016, and 2017. The app offers access to the social network’s catalog of videos, including live streams from across the globe.

Facebook has said that the app will be available on Apple TV and Fire TV, too. We have yet to spot the app on these platforms but Samsung says that it is now available on Smart TVs from 2015, 2016, and 2017.
The Facebook video app is available in 190 countries and in 35 languages. It is one component of a strategy to challenge the likes of YouTube. From within the app you have access to the growing library of videos on Facebook, including live videos and videos that get recommended based on your interests.
The company has said that more platforms will follow later. It appears that Samsung is the launch partner.
The app will not include ads at launch. It is free to download and available from Samsung’s TV app store today.
