LG, Samsung & Sony TVs are "Netflix Recommended" in 2017

Every year, Netflix pushes TV manufacturers to deliver a faster and better app experience. In 2017, LG, Samsung and Sony will carry the “Netflix Recommended” logo based on, amongst other things, faster startup times.

Netflix hopes that one day you can turn on your TV and use any app instantaneously, just like you can with channels. That is why the company in 2015 introduced the ”Netflix Recommended” logo.

In 2017, the company will recommend TVs from LG, Samsung, and Sony. Just like last year.

- “This year, a handful of devices have innovated further - offering better usability, faster performance, and new features that make getting to Netflix and other internet TV services as easy as getting to live TV,“ said Netflix.

The following are ”Netflix Recommended” in 2017:
2017 LG 4K UHD TVs with WebOS 3.5
2017 Samsung 7, 8, 9, and Q-series Smart TVs
2017 Sony Android TVs


Raises the bar
In 2015, Netflix evaluated TVs on factors such as speed, app memory, the latest version of the Netflix app, and more. It also helped if the manufacturer decided to include a button for Netflix on the remote control.

Every year, Netflix raises the bar. In 2017, the following criteria must also be met:
You can power on your TV and start using Netflix or other internet TV apps in just a few seconds.
You can switch between apps or switch from apps to live TV and back again almost instantly.

The user interface must also ”appear in hi-resolution”, the company added.

Even if the logo may not carry much weight in the real world it is good to see that Netflix is pushing manufacturers to do their best.
