After significant delay, Dell has launched the first consumer OLED PC monitor. UP3017Q is a 30-inch OLED monitor with 4K resolution, wider color gamut, and a $3500 price tag.
First OLED PC monitor
It took almost one year and a half. Dell originally unveiled the monitor at CES 2016 and had planned to launch it in March 2016. It never arrived and the company even at one point said that it had scrapped plans.
To our surprise, Dell has now launched the UP3017Q OLED monitor. That is of course great news since it was hotly anticipated. It is the first OLED PC monitor for the consumer market. OLED display technology has drastically higher contrast than conventional LCD and is expected to take picture quality on PC monitors to new heights.
There is more good news. Dell has slashed the price on UP3017Q from the original $5000 to $3500 dollars. That is still expensive but UP3017Q is of course the first of its kind.
Furthermore, 30-inch UP3071Q features 3840x2160 resolution, 0.1 ms response time, 60 Hz refresh rate, 178/178 degree viewing angles, 10-bit colors, and peak brightness of 300 nits (120 nits at 100% APL).
A range of different color spaces are supported, too. Dell is quoting 100% sRGB, 100% AdobeRGB, 100% Rec.709, 97.5% DCI-P3, and 85.5% Rec.2020. Those are some pretty impressive numbers that will make it a good match for users working with photo and video editing.
The monitor even looks good turned off. It has aluminum edges and a very slim design. It also offers height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustment. It can be connected to a PC via HDMI 2.0, Mini DisplayPort 1.2 or USB-Type C.
Dell UP3017Q is available now from dell.com for $3500 dollars. It will ship in 1-2 weeks.
