Bang & Olufsen has sent out invites for a press event at the annual IFA conference in Berlin in late August. It appears that Bang & Olufsen will launch its first OLED TV under the name ’BeoVision Eclipse’.
BeoVision Eclipse to be unviled at IFA?
It is no secret that Bang & Olufsen has been working towards launching its first TV based on OLED technology in 2017. The company confirmed as much in an announcement last year when it selected LG Electronics as a production partner. LG will develop and produce the OLED TV.
We are halfway through the year so IFA seems like the perfect occasion to unveil the TV to the world. Bang & Olufsen has now confirmed that it will host a press event in Berlin on August 30. IFA is the largest trade show for consumer electronics in Europe.

Bang & Olufsen has recently trademarked ’BeoVision Eclipse’ in the European trademark database (EUIPO), so all signs point to this being the name for the new OLED TV – a name not too different from the current ’BeoVision Horizon’.
FlatpanelsHD has received tips from several sources but we have not been able to independently confirm details. We are told that LG has been developing the video processor and the operating system (webOS) for the new TV from B&O. A soundbar under the TV, developed by Bang & Olufsen, will communicate with the TV via HDMI CEC.
We will leave it to your imagination to determine if the dots on the invitation refer to a speaker grille on the soundbar. FlatpanelsHD will, as always, attend IFA.
