Samsung has launched this year’s flagship soundbar in the form of MS750. It packs 11 speaker units and technology to “vertically expand the sound stage” but lacks support for Dolby Atmos.

Samsung calls it “this year’s flagship soundbar” but based on the model number (750) it appears that MS750 still sits below last year’s K850 and K950 Dolby Atmos soundbars that have carried over into 2017.

Samsung further explains that MS750 features “UHD upscaling”, which does not refer to video but instead to 32-bit audio. The soundbar offers automatic switching between movie, voice, music, and sport modes. At CES 2017, Samsung said that the soundbar would have an integrated subwoofer to “de-clutter the home” but if you want, you can also purchase a wireless W700 subwoofer for $700 dollars.
MS750 lacks Dolby Atmos
The company says that MS750 “enhances the home theater experience by vertically expanding the sound stage”. If that sounds a little like Dolby Atmos, well, you are right. Except that MS750 soundbars does not support Dolby’s – or DTS’s – object-based audio technology so any vertical expansion of the sound stage would be based solely on audio interpolation.
It appears that Dolby Atmos is still reserved for the most expensive units on the market. Besides Samsung, companies such as LG, Philips, Sony, Onkyo, and Yamaha have launched Atmos-compatible soundbars. LG has also started integrating Dolby Atmos-capable speakers in its line-up of OLED TVs.

Additionally, the MS750 powers both itself and the TV with one power cord for cleaner cable management. The soundbar can also be controlled from the Samsung One TV remote to reduce clutter,” the company added.
The MS750 is available now for $500, which is $300 less than Samsung’s most affordable Dolby Atmos soundbar that currently sells for around $800.
