Apple has invited the press to its annual fall launch event on September 12 at the “Steve Jobs Theater” where the company is expected to launch several new products, including an Apple TV with 4K and HDR.
New Apple TV hardware
Three iPhones, a new Apple Watch, and upgraded Apple TV hardware. This is what Apple is planning to unveil at the event, according to US media and their sources.
It is more or less confirmed that the new Apple TV hardware will support 4K resolution and HDR (High Dynamic Range). References to three HDR formats have been found in Apple’s software: HDR10, Dolby Vision og HLG.
Customers have also started seeing some movies appear as ‘4K HDR’ in their list of purchased content in iTunes, more than indicating that Apple is preparing to offer movies in the highest possible quality through iTunes. Bloomberg has also reported that Apple is currently negotiating deals with major Hollywood studios.

Sources claim to know that the box will feature a much faster chip and that the ‘TV’ app will updated to support live TV. The app is currently available only in select few countries.
Tim Cook said at WWDC 2017 in June that we “will be hearing a lot more about tvOS later this year”.
The event will be held at the ‘Steve Jobs Theater’ in the new gigantic Apple Park in Cupertino. The office complex was one of the last projects that Steve Jobs had a chance to reveal before he passed away.
It is happening on September 12 at 10am PT.
