Plex is bringing its live TV to the Roku platform. It is available now in beta and will be available to all Plex Pass subscribers in about a week.

Plex Live TV allows you to watch TV channels via an antenna on a range of media players. The channels are free but you need to pay for Plex’s subscription service that also buys you other features. Plex is also a full-fledged media player app for your local media.
Plex Live TV is now available on Roku in beta. The DVR features are available in a limited form, allowing you to watch recordings initiated on other devices. You cannot, however, schedule recordings directly from the app on Rook.
- “A beta release is out with plans to release to all Plex Pass subscribers in about a week. Plex Pass subscribers with the Roku preview channel installed can now use Roku to watch free HDTV digital broadcast channels, including local news, and sports.”
Plex Live TV was introduced in June 2017 on Android TV and iOS. It has since been expanded to Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and mobile Android. As so often before, Roku is one of the last platforms to receive the latest apps or features, despite its popularity.
Plex Live TV and DVR is available in the US and Europe. To get started you need a compatible tuner. In addition you need to subscribe to Plex Pass, which costs $5/month, $40/year or $120/lifetime.
