It is not cheap but the new 49-inch Q6 is Samsung’s most affordable “QLED” LCD to date. It features the same premium remote and design as the more expensive TVs but has not been ‘UHD Premium’ certified.
Flat Q6 model
Samsung’s share of the premium TV segment is in free fall. The South Korean company is hoping that a more affordable TV, priced to compete in the lower high-end segment, will help alleviate the situation.
Q6 is flat and available only in a 49 inch version. It features the Tizen operating system, Samsung’s 360-degree design, and the new ‘One Remote’ that we have praised in our reviews. Q6 is sold as a “QLED TV” but it is a conventional LCD panel with a quantum dot film.
Samsung did not release full specifications but it is clear that Q6 differs somewhat from the more expensive Q models. It has not been ‘UHD Premium’ certified, which is a set of minimum requirements for HDR. The other “QLED” models are mediocre HDR TVs so don’t expect Q6 to excel in this area. However, it still features 4K resolution so it may turn out to be a decent 4K TV.
