Nintendo Switch has gained its first major streaming service with the addition of Hulu. The app supports both on-demand and live TV content.
Paves the way for more apps
At launch, Nintendo Switch had no streaming services to offer. Not even Netflix. Hulu is the first of significance to arrive on Switch in the US, and Nintendo has promised to bring more apps to the platform in due time.
It is the full Hulu app that includes live TV as well as on-demand content. The app began to roll out the Nintendo Switch over the weekend.
- “We are very proud to announce that Hulu is the first US streaming entertainment service to debut on Nintendo Switch! Beginning later today, Hulu subscribers will now be able to use their Nintendo Switch to stream all of their favorite TV whether they’re at home or on the go,” said Richard Irving, VP of Product, Hulu.
There is no word on Amazon, Netflix, YouTube or other apps but with the launch of Hulu the way should be paved for more content partners to arrive in the near future.
Nintendo Switch is an unconventional hybrid game console that you can dock to the TV at home and bring with you on move. The company has sold 7.6 million Switch consoles globally and expects to hit 14 million by April 2018.
