An updated YouTube app for Xbox One X now supports 4K and 60fps so you can enjoy game trailers and other content in better video quality. HDR and support for Xbox One S is coming later.
YouTube in 4K 60fps
Google is slowly but surely rolling out support for higher quality video across TV platforms. Xbox One X is the latest to gain support for 4K resolution and 60 frames per second playback.
By now, there is a wide selection of videos available in 4K and/or 60fps on YouTube, including game and movie trailers. Everyone can upload video in 4K resolution so the selection is growing by the day.
Microsoft has told The Verge that support for High Dynamic Range is “coming soon” to Xbox One X. Support for 4K and HDR in YouTube is also coming to Xbox One S in the near future.
To enjoy YouTube in 4K you must currently manually download the latest version of the YouTube app from the Windows Store. It will roll out as an automatic update later.
