Apple TV and Google Chromecast return to Amazon

21 Dec 2017 | Rasmus Larsen |

Amazon and Apple have buried the hatchet. Amazon Video has launched on Apple TV and in return Amazon has once again started selling the competitor’s streaming player. Chromecast has also returned.

Where do things stand with Google?

Amazon banned Apple TV and Google Chromecast from its online store a little over two years ago. The company argued that neither of the devices supported Amazon Prime Video, which could potentially confuse customers.

Amazon and Apple have already buried the hatchet. Earlier this month, the Amazon Prime Video streaming service became available as an app on Apple TV.

It is a little unclear where things between Amazon and Google stand. Just earlier this month, the feud escalated when Google blocked YouTube from the Echo Show and Fire TV players. Since then, Chromecast has returned to Amazon’s online store. However, Amazon Video does not currently support Chromecast.

Chromecast is listed as “currently unavailable”. Apple TV is available from amazon.com and amazon.co.uk but seemingly not every region that Amazon conducts business in. After getting listed, Apple TV sold out within hours and is now listed as “temporarily out of stock”.
