LG 2018 Atmos soundbar
After having launched Atmos-capable OLED TVs and the SJ9 Atmos soundbar last year, LG is following up with an updated and more capable soundbar dubbed SK10Y.
The new soundbar has been developed in partnership with Meridian Audio and delivers 550W of output. It is equipped with multiple units, including two up-firing speakers, in a 5.1.2 speaker configuration. SK10Y is also compatible with lossless audio / 24bit / 192 Hz.

Dolby Atmos is an object-based audio technology that utilized ”sound objects” that can be precisely placed in our surroundings. LG explains that the soundbar uses Meridian’s ”Bass and Space” and ”Height Elevation” technologies to improve the Atmos listening experience.
The company added that SK10Y has been designed to fit seamlessly underneath many of its 2018 OLED and Super UHD TVs that will be showcased next month. It features built-in Chromecast and supports ”OK Google” commands.
In addition to the SK10Y soundbar, LG will unveil portable speakers, party speakers, and the ’ThinQ Speaker’, which the company says is its first ”AI audio product”, at CES 2018 next month. FlatpanelsHD will be at CES.
