The OLED TV from electriQ is the cheapest in the UK to date, and it even features 4K resolution and support for High Dynamic Range.
Cheapest OLED TV yet
If this TV from electriQ is anything to go by, OLED TVs will become much more affordable in 2018. It is, of course, based on LG.Display’s OLED TV panel but is nevertheless significantly cheaper than anything LG has on offer.
The 55” electriQ OLED TV features 4K resolution as well as support for HDR10. It does not offer premium HDR formats such as Dolby Vision or HDR10+ but if HDR10 has been implemented well, it will still give you a significantly better HDR viewing experience than what you get from most LCD TVs, based on our tests. We have not yet seen this electriQ TV in action.
The TV features Android 6.0 but be aware that this is not Google’s ’Android TV’ platform. Instead, it is the mobile version, meaning that streaming services see it as a mobile phone from their end, resulting in significantly compromised picture quality. You should probably just connect an external media player via one of the 3 HDMI ports instead. Implementing mobile Android in TVs is a very unfortunate trend that started in China a couple of years ago.
The TV? Based on the pictures it looks a little bit like one Philips’ OLED TVs but the best news here is that the electriQ model significantly reduces the entry price point for OLED TVs.
The electriQ OLED TV (55UHDT2HOLED) has a suggested retail price of Ł1300 but already sells for under Ł1000 (also available from amazon.co.uk), making it the most affordable OLED TV in the UK to date.
