Not content with having the world’s first 8K OLED TV, LG Display will also showcase the world’s first roll-up TV at CES 2018 next week, according to reports by CNET and The Verge.
Roll-up OLED TV
LG Display, LG’s display production arm, has been working on rollable OLED display technology for several years and at CES 2018 we will see the fruits of the development in the form of a 65” 4K OLED TV that can roll-up into its base.

The display will be showcased at CES 2018 by LG Display – not LG Electronics – because it is still a prototype and not a finished consumer product. It is nevertheless extremely cool technology that can enable new use cases, and possibly even persuade consumers to install much larger TVs at home.
OLED can be deposited on a range of different substrates including glass and flexible plastic. This one is so flexible that it can roll up into a relatively modest base unit.

Details are scarce at this point but we do know that the display panel features 4K resolution and that it is paper thin. One of the unique attributes of OLED technology is that even at this thinness picture quality is uncompromised. We will be chasing more details at CES 2018 next week.
