Less than one year after launch, Google has raised the price of its YouTube TV service from $35 to $40 per month for new subscribers.

YouTube TV price hike

Google’s live TV service that repackages the cable TV bundle for the internet age has just gotten more expensive. That is bad news for anyone hoping to save money on the monthly cable TV bill by switching to YouTube TV.

Existing subscribers will continue to pay $35 per month for the time being but new subscribers will have to pay the full $40 per month. This includes access to some 40 channels, including ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, Disney, ESPN, FX, and USA.

The service was launched in April 2017 and is now available on a range of devices including Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Smart TVs, Roku, and Xbox One. It is not available on Amazon’s Fire TV devices.

YouTube TV is an extension of the conventional cable TV bundle and is competing with the likes of Hulu Live TV, PlayStation Vue, Sling TV, and DirecTV Now.
