Vizio will add support for Dolby Atmos to its new line-up of soundbars. The three new models will also include Chromecast, Google Assistant, and a wireless subwoofer.
Dolby Atmos soundbars
The three soundbars are designed to fit either large or medium sized TVs. The most expensive soundbar delivers sound in 5.1.4 channels, meaning 1 center, 2 front units, 2 rear units, 1 subwoofer, and 4 roof-firing units. The cheaper versions deliver 3.1.2 or 5.1.2.

Dolby Atmos is one of several object-based audio formats. Rather than channels the format encodes sounds as objects that can be positioned three-dimensionally in your viewing environment. Atmos also adds height channels. Of course, you will need movies or TV shows with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack to enjoy the effects.

The new soundbars also come with Google Chromecast built-in for music playback as well as support for Google Assistant that will allow you to integrate the soundbars as part of your connected home.
Vizio has yet to announce pricing details for its new soundbars but said that they will be available “in late summer”. Dolby’s new audio technology is increasingly being implemented in soundbars and Vizio’s new line-up will have to compete head-to-head with other Atmos-enabled soundbars from Samsung, Sony, LG, Philips, Yamaha, and others.
