Amazon has put a big banner on its website teasing what appears to be a more capable and powerful Fire TV media player with voice features.
What is Fire TV Cube?
In September 2017, Amazon launched an upgraded and affordable Fire TV player. The upcoming Fire TV Cube appears to be a more feature-packed device that will take the spot as Amazon’s high-end media player.

Other than the website banner Amazon has yet to comment on the Fire TV Cube but website AFTVNews reported in 2017 that Amazon was planned to release two new Fire TV products. As predicted, the affordable Fire TV player arrived later that year but the report also predicted another product that ”essentially combines the functionality of a Fire TV, an Echo Dot, and an IR emitter, like the Harmony Hub, into a single device”.
So what does the cube hide inside? If AFTVNews’ rendering is to be believed, it appears to have an integrated speaker, which could suggest that it will support full Alexa capabilities – a sort of Echo and Fire TV combo device.

Of course, we also expect the player to be capable of outputting 4K video as well as HDR. Amazon offers content in Dolby Vision format via its Prime Video streaming service but the company has no devices that support Dolby Vision. Perhaps this is the first.
So, what is the Fire TV Cube? All will be revealed ”soon”.
