Starting later this month, you will be able to play your PC games on the largest screen via Apple TV. The Steam Link app will also be available for iOS and Android.
Steam Link for TVs
With the Steam Link, PC and Mac games can be streamed over a home network connection either wirelessly with 5GHz WiFi or through a wired connection. It requires a PC or Mac with Steam installed as well as the upcoming Steam Link app for Apple TV, iOS, and Android. The announcement for Android mentions “TV” but it is a little unclear if it refers to the actual Android TV platform.
- “The Steam Link app, slated to launch the week of May 21st, allows gamers to experience their Steam library of games on their Android (phone, tablet, TV) and iOS-based (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV) devices while connected via 5Ghz network or wired Ethernet to a host system (Mac or PC), with Android access initially offered in beta,” the company announced.
To get started you also need a wireless game controller such as the Steam Controller or a MFI controller for Apple’s devices.
Steam Link has been available as a separate box for a few years now but more recently the company developed a full software implementation. The software version of Steam Link is already integrated in recent Samsung TV and the company is now looking to significantly expand the footprint.
In addition, the company will make its Steam Video app available on mobile devices.

We are excited to see the system expand to two of the biggest platforms this month, allowing users to play even graphics-intensive games on the largest screen.
