Redbox has begun renting out UHD Blu-ray discs across 2500 kiosks in six test markets for $2.50 per night. Launch titles include Black Panther, The Commuter, The Matrix, and The Martian.

The test is rolling out in Los Angeles, Seattle, Austin, Detroit, Miami, and New York City, the company said. New releases and catalog titles will be added weekly but the number of copies will vary by kiosk and location.
- "This is a major move for Redbox as we focus on expanding consumer access to home entertainment options across price points and formats," said Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox. "As the popularity of 4K content increases and pricing of 4K hardware decreases, we're excited to offer the best viewing experience at the best price for 4K Blu-ray discs."

In addition, Redbox recently added Nintendo Switch video game rentals in select markets and now refers to itself as “America’s destination for new-release movies and games”. Besides physical rentals, the company offers online rentals through a service that competes head-to-head with Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes.
Redbox rentals, including UHD Blu-ray discs, can be returned to any kiosk, the company added.
