The company’s 2018 P series has full array local dimming with up to 120 zones whereas the 2018 M series has a less advanced dimming system. Both feature Dolby Vision. The upgraded TVs are now shipping in the US.

The TVs were unveiled in April and are now available to buy. The P series exists in 55, 65, and 75-inch formats with 4K resolution and support for three HDR video formats (HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision).
- "Picture quality technologies like Ultra Color Spectrum, Dolby Vision HDR and UltraBright 1000 enable the P-Series to take 4K HDR performance to the next level," said Bill Baxter, CTO, Vizio, in April when the TVs were announced.
The 2018 P series TVs use full array local dimming (FALD) LCD panels that control the backlight in zones. The company says that the largest model has 120 dimming zones and that the TVs can hit up to 1000 nits peak brightness in HDR mode.

In addition, Vizio has refreshed its SmartCast platform that now offers access to apps such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Vudu. The TV tuners are back inside after the company briefly experimented with Chromecast-only TVs. The TVs will also be compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Vizio also has new 2018 M series TVs that feature a scaled-down local dimming system and support for Dolby Vision. The M series models have also started to appear in stores.
This summer, Vizio will add a high-end 65-inch ‘P series Quantum’ to its line-up.
The 55 and 65-inch 2018 P series models are shipping now from Vizio.com, Best Buy, and other dealers. The 75-inch will be available soon. See prices and dealers below.
