TP Vision is launching new Philips LCD TVs spanning from Full HD models in the 5 series to “Nano LED” models in the 8 series – most of them with Ambilight and Android TV. The TVs are rolling out now across Europe.
Philips 2018 LCD TVs
The top end of the Philips 2018 line-up will consist of OLED TVs whereas the 8 series and below will use LCD technology. The most advanced models will feature 4K resolution and “Nano LED”, which is a filter design to improve color and contrast.
Most models also come equipped with 3-sided Ambilight as well as Google’s Android TV platform. In recent years, Ambilight has been expanded with Spotify and HUE integration. The new TVs will run Android 7 but TP Vision, who is responsible for Philips TV in Europe, has promised to update the TVs to Android 8 at a later time. The next major version of Android features a completely revamped user interface. Some of the cheapest models use another platform dubbed ‘Saphi’
TP Vision said that the TVs were designed based on European traditions. It will also prioritize audio by offering several models with built-in soundbars.

Most of the 2018 LCD models are compatible with HDR (High Dynamic Range) but none of them are equipped with full array local dimming LCD panels. You need to step up to one of the Philips OLED TVs, if HDR is a priority for you.
Philips’ new LCD models are rolling out across Europe in sizes ranging from 22 to 75 inches, with wider availability expected within a couple of weeks. See prices and dealers below.
