Earlier this year, Warner Bros released a remastered version of The Matrix. The studio has now announced that the full trilogy will be available in 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos on October 30.
As a boxset & separate releases
Warner Bros has made new scans from the original camera negatives but computer-generated special effects are not rendered in full 4K resolution. All three movies will come with Dolby Vision and HDR10 on the UHD Blu-ray discs.
As part of the remastering process, supervised by Bill Hope, Warner Bros has also toned down the green tint while Neo and Trinity are inside the matrix.
In addition, the remastered Matrix trilogy will be presented Dolby Atmos object-based audio in addition to conventional 5.1 surround. Lots of extras are included, too.
The Wachowski siblings’ first movie (The Matrix) in the series was released in 1999 so it is almost 20 years old. The second (The Matrix Reloaded) and third (The Matrix Revolutions) installments were both released in 2003.
The Matrix Trilogy will be released on UHD Blu-ray as a boxset and separate releases, including steelbook versions. Pre-orders are available on amazon.com. The movies will also be available online.
