At IFA 2018, TCL will officially launch its latest LCD TV range for Europe. The C76 is an Android TV with 4K resolution and a built-in JBL soundbar.
C76 is 7.9mm thick
TCL says that C76 combines an ”unique bezel-less design” with 4K resolution, Android TV, and powerful sound. It has been designed as a minimalistic TV with a slim 7.9mm profile.

While TCL has seen success in the US market by selling LCD TVs with zone dimming capabilities, it has stuck to the less capable but thinner edge-lit LCD TVs for the European market. C76 has an edge-lit LCD panel with 4K resolution. The TV supports HDR (HDR10 and HLG). In addition, it features ”wide viewing angle”, the company said, suggesting that it is an IPS LCD panel. Update: TCL confirms that the TV has a VA LCD panel with dual domain pixels.
TCL’s C76 has a built-in soundbar with 6 front-firing speakers and 60W output. The company wants to improve the listing experience so it has turned to JBL for help in developing and fine-tuning TV audio. In addition to Dolby, the soundbar support DTS decoding.
It is based on Google’s Android TV platform but it is not entirely clear what version of Android it is using. The press material references Android 7, which is now two years old, while another passage refers to Android 8 (update: Oreo confirmed). Access to the Google Play store will allow you to download apps such as Netflix and YouTube to the TV’s built-in 16GB storage (10GB available to the user). In addition, C76 has built-in Chromecast and something that TCL refers as ”T-cast”. It is also compatible with Google Home and Assistant.
C76 will expand the company’s European line-up that currently includes the C70, X2, and P66 models. The Chinese company is still trying to get foothold in the European market and with the launch of C76 it wants to offer an alternative to 7, 8 and 9 series LCD TVs from more established TV brands such as Samsung, Sony, and LG.
TCL C76 will be available in 55 and 65-inch sizes in Europe. It will launch this month and be one of the highlights from TCL at the IFA 2018 show in Berlin. Pricing details were not announced.
