Plex has announced that its cloud service for storing movies and other media content will shut down on November 30 after a long period of technical issues.
Plex Cloud is no longer
In September 2016, the company launched Plex Cloud as a way to store your media content in the cloud rather than on a physical hard drive at home. It would give you access to all of your media files from any device at home and on the road.
It was launched in beta but unfortunately users experienced lots of issues. Plex has tried to find solutions but now says that “we haven’t found a solution capable of delivering a truly first class Plex experience” at a reasonable cost.
- “We’ve made the difficult decision to shut down the Plex Cloud service on November 30th, 2018. As you may know, we haven’t allowed any new Plex Cloud servers 109 since February of this year,” the company said. “We hold ourselves to a high standard, and unfortunately, after a lot of investigation and thought, we haven’t found a solution capable of delivering a truly first class Plex experience to Plex Cloud users at a reasonable cost.”
As a consequence Plex Cloud will shut down on November 30, 2018. More information is available in the source link below.
