Dell says that it is the first of its kind. The ultra-wide 32:9 monitor can replace two 27-inch monitors on a desktop and has been designed for productivity.
An ultra-wide curved monitor
The ultra-wide 49-inch monitor is curved (3800R) and has ”dual QHD resolution” or 5120x1440 pixels. Dell believes that the large curved screen can increase productivity. It can effectively ”replace two 27-inch QHD monitors”.
- "As the world's favorite monitor brand9, Dell continues its legacy of leading innovation with multiple firsts in the industry. Once again, we have pushed the boundaries of display technology to deliver the world's first 49-inch curved dual QHD monitor. This new monitor offers an immersive panoramic experience without compromising design or functionality," said Kirk Schell, SVP, Dell Displays.

The monitor is based on an IPS LCD panel so expect decent picture quality but relatively poor contrast (1000:1). The monitor has been design for productivity but it cannot reproduce HDR and is limited to the sRGB color gamut so it is not an ideal choice for people working with photo and video. It has no gaming features such as FreeSync either.
- "This revolutionary 49-inch curved monitor is focused on enhancing the performance and productivity of desk-centric users such as financial traders, bankers, creatives and engineers. With the new UltraSharp family, we remain committed to providing the best to meet the visualization needs of our commercial customers."

The monitor offers two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4, and one USB-C. It connects to both PCs and Macs. In addition, it has five USB 3.0 ports. As usual, the stand is height adjustable and offers tilt and swivel functions.
Dell U4919DW will be available on October 26 for $1700.
