Amazon’s high-profile TV show starring the three former Top Gear hosts will return on January 18, 2019, with the premiere of The Grand Tour season 3. Amazon will also release a console game.

Starring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, The Grand Tour has quickly become one of Amazon’s headlining TV shows. The retail giant is using it to build a global presence for its video streaming service. Season 3 is almost here.
- ” For series 3, the trio have filmed around the world, causing more chaos than ever before as they travel through tricky terrains in Colombia, Mongolia, China, Detroit and…Stansted Airport, whilst their giant studio tent remains back home in ‘Jeremy’s garden’ in the Cotswolds,” said Amazon.
New episodes will be released weekly worldwide.
The Grand Tour Game
Alongside season 3, Amazon is releasing a console game based on the TV show. The Grand Tour Game will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The Grand Tour Game features four-player splitscreen, so players can race against each other—and hurl their best insults—in-person. Amazon has a strong presence in the US but it has yet to break through in many international markets where Netflix has a big lead. That is partly due to Amazon’s less expansive and attractive slate of original content.
The third season of The Grand Tour may give Amazon increased impetus but the company will need more to become a global juggernaut. Perhaps the upcoming TV series based on Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings will change that but Amazon will also face new global competitors in the coming years with Disney and WarnerMedia.
