Samsung 2019 lifestyle TVs
Ahead of CES 2019, Samsung has announced two upgraded “lifestyle” TV models, possibly to concentrate on its mainstream 2019 TV line-up at the Las Vegas show. The two new TVs are mildly upgraded versions of existing ‘The Frame’ and ‘Serif TV’.
Serif TV was designed by brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and launched in 2015. The Frame was created in collaboration with Yves Behar and launched in 2017. The Frame shows digital art when not in use. With the TVs, Samsung is trying to rethink how a TV can blend into a modern living space.

- “The traditional TV was only focused on technical features, such as picture quality and performance, but now TVs are also a lifestyle platform that blends in consumers’ daily life,” said Jongsuk Choo, EVP, Samsung Visual Display. “This year’s models of The Frame and Serif TV are enhanced lifestyle TVs that deliver a TV experience like nothing before.”
The 2019 models now feature LCD panels with quantum dots, which Samsung likes to call “QLED”. In addition, Serif TV 2019 will come with the Ambient Mode first introduced in this year’s Q series models, while The Frame 2019 will feature Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant. The company has not announced plans to bring Bixby to its previous The Frame models.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it would bring paintings from Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent van Gogh, Botticelli, and others to the art store. There are “more than 1,000 exceptional works of art and photography” available.
Samsung has yet to announce availability and pricing details but said that the new TVs will be showcased at CES 2019 in a “large lifestyle TV exhibition zone”. In the past, the TVs have been available exclusively in furniture and department stores but from 2019 the TVs can be found in regular electronics retailers.
