The 65-inch Nvidia-powered TVs that were announced at last year’s CES and later delayed will finally arrive in February 2019. HP’s version will cost $5000.
TVs with G-Sync & Nvidia Shield
The TVs were supposed to have arrived in the middle of 2018 but were delayed. It is not clear why because the specifications seem to be largely unchanged.
The 65-inch TVs are based on 4K LCD panels with zone dimming. They are capable of reproducing HDR10 pictures and support Nvidia G-Sync with up to 144Hz refresh rate. They also have built-in Nvidia Shield hardware and Android TV software.

"If you want the biggest and best G-SYNC HDR PC gaming display, it’s available for pre-order now from HP. Other partners will start taking pre-orders as we approach the launch of our big format gaming display — or BFGD — later this quarter."
Nvidia is caling them ”big format gaming displays” (BFGD) and the first one is now expected to arrive in February through a partnership with HP. The 65-inch HP ’Omen X Emperium’ – yes, that’s it’s real name – will cost $5000. It will have HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort. HP will launch a matching soundbar. Acer and Asus have also committed to launching BFGDs.
Why would anyone cough up that amount of money for a 65-inch TV when competitors are announced 4K TVs with HDMI VRR, the HDMI-specified alternative to Nvidia G-Sync, and even some TVs with HDMI 2.1 that enables 4K gaming at 120fps? Nvidia is betting that PC gamers are prepared to pay a significant premium for G-Sync and Shield features.
