Panasonic’s new flagship GZ2000 will support auto-calibration as well as built-in calibration patterns as part of a new CalMAN PatternGen initiative.
More affordable calibration
CalMAN PatternGen is a built-in pattern generator in the Panasonic GZ2000 that can supply the video test pattern required to do a TV calibration with a measurement device – or a meter. Similar functionality was announced for the LG 2019 OLED models at CES.
By having the test patterns built-in, users no longer need the costly external pattern generator hardware. As such, the cost of entry for TV calibration has been ”greatly reduced”, starting at around 600 dollars.
- ”CalMAN PatternGen directly communicates with CalMAN software to provide on-screen patterns for color calibration. With CalMAN PatternGen, the purchase of an expensive external pattern generator is no longer required to calibrate and enjoy a superior viewing experience. This greatly lowers the cost of entry for consumers and professionals alike. All that is required for calibration of the GZ2000 is a meter such as the SpectraCal C6 HDR2000, and CalMAN color calibration software” the company said.
The GZ2000 is Panasonic’s new flagship OLED TV that will launch in Europe later this year. It was announced at CES 2019 and Panasonic emphasized once again how its goal is to ”bring Hollywood to the home”. GZ2000 also supports auto-calibration (AutoCal) with the CalMAN software.

CalMAN AutoCal and PatternGen for Panasonic GZ2000 will be demonstrated for the first time at the Panasonic Convention in Frankfurt in February. The new features will be enabled with the release of the CalMAN 2019 software.
